Year 3 and 4 Slimbridge Trip

On Wednesday 7th June 2017, Year 3 and 4 were very lucky and went to visit Slimbridge Wetland Centre. We had a fantastic day exploring the wetlands where we saw many different species of ducks and geese from all over the world; we even saw bright pink flamingos! As we walked around we fed the ducks and geese and many of us were brave enough to let them eat from our hands! Next we all went pond dipping. We explored the murky waters and found loads of different insects and fish; some of us caught snail eggs, damselfly nymphs and bloodworms. Afterwards we looked at these creatures under a microscope. In ‘Toad Hall’ at the centre we then saw poisonous frogs, large toads and newts. By lunchtime we were all very happy to sit outside on the benches and eat our lunch before playing on the outdoor area. Everyone had a fantastic day and loved sharing what they had learnt about the   natural world. Well done to Year 3 and 4 for being such great representatives of St Paul’s!

Year 3 Trip to Cattle Country - Yee-haa!!

On Wednesday 14th June 2017 Year 3 had a very special treat of going to Cattle Country Adventure Park on a trip organised by the Rotary Club. We were at the park with many different schools and had a wonderful time with sunny weather all day. First, as a group, we explored the farm area and saw Jeremy the alpaca, petted the sheep and cows, met some goats and held some guinea pigs. After this, it was time for Year 3 to explore the   adventure park! Everybody showed our values of St Paul’s of being kind, safe and best while they had fun throughout the park. Some of us played mini-golf, played on the tyre swing and collected objects for a sensory scavenger hunt. We also went on the zip wire, climbed the castle, bounced on the giant bouncy pillow and slid down lots of different ‘Death Slides’. Even Miss Gonzalez and Mrs Goode had a go! We had a lovely lunch provided by the Rotarians and then had a       delicious ice-cream in the afternoon. Lots of us also made friends with children from different schools.

All Year 3 displayed amazing behaviour and everyone had an excellent time! Since Wednesday we have written letters to the Rotary Club to thank them and are very keen to go again!
